How to check a job offer before you go
Got a job offer, especially abroad? Paste the message or add a screenshot. We'll show warning signs and how to check it. We don't keep it.
Questions to ask the recruiter
- What is the company's full name and address?
- Can I see the contract before I pay or travel?
- What is your licence number? I will check it.
- Who pays for the visa and the flight?
- Will I keep my own passport?
How to check it
- Check the agency's licence on your government's official list.
- Search the company name and phone number online, with the word "scam".
- Ask someone who already works there, not the recruiter.
- Get the contract in a language you understand, before you pay anything.
Never pay money into a personal account, and always get an official receipt.
A fair job offer usually…
- The employer pays the recruitment costs.
- You get a written contract before you travel.
- You keep your own passport and phone.
