Work is a gift from God and part of His good design for us. In Genesis, we see that even before sin entered the world, God placed Adam in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it (Genesis 2:15). This shows that work is not a punishment but a purpose shared with our Creator. Jesus Himself, while on earth, worked as a carpenter, honoring labor with His holy presence.
In Colossians 3:23, the Apostle Paul encourages us: "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." This reminds us that our work, whether big or small, is done ultimately for God's glory and not just for human approval. It gives our everyday efforts eternal value, transforming routine tasks into acts of worship when done in His name.
Moreover, the Bible speaks of rest alongside work, establishing a rhythm of labor and Sabbath so that we remember our ultimate rest is found in Christ, not our achievements. Work diligently as unto Him, trusting that even your smallest labors matter. Whether in an office, field, or home, our calling is to serve where He leads, relying on His strength, and honoring Him with our efforts. Jesus, our Savior and Lord, enables us to find joy and purpose in every part of our work.
