What does the Bible say about suffering?

Answers from the Bible, in your language.

The Bible speaks to the reality of suffering, acknowledging it as a part of life in a fallen world. Yet, it also offers profound hope through Jesus Christ. In the book of James, we read, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds" (James 1:2). This may seem surprising, but there is a purpose in our pain. God uses trials to produce steadfastness and maturity in us, shaping us to be more like Christ.

Jesus Himself is no stranger to suffering. He experienced deep sorrow and agony, ultimately bearing our sins on the cross. Hebrews 4:15 reminds us that Jesus is our great High Priest who sympathizes with our weaknesses. He walks with us in our pain and promises never to leave us.

We can trust God even in the midst of suffering because He works all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). This doesn't mean we will understand every hardship, but we have a future hope. Revelation 21:4 promises a day when God "will wipe away every tear...there will be no more death or sorrow."

Let us look to Jesus, our Savior and Lord, trusting His perfect love and wisdom. In Him, we find strength, peace, and the promise of eternal joy beyond our present trials.
