What does the Bible say about worry?

Answers from the Bible, in your language.

The Bible speaks lovingly and clearly about worry, calling us to trust in God’s care. Jesus, in Matthew 6:25-34, tells us not to be anxious about our lives, like what we will eat or wear. He points to the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, which God takes care of, and reminds us how much more God cares for us. In verse 33, Jesus says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” This means we should focus on loving and following God, trusting that He will provide for our needs.

The Apostle Paul encourages us in Philippians 4:6-7 to not be anxious about anything. Instead, we should pray and bring all our concerns to God with thanksgiving. The promise is that God's peace, which is beyond our understanding, will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Worry comes when we try to handle life’s problems on our own. But we have a Savior, Jesus, who invites us to trust Him. His love for us is deep and sure, shown on the cross. When we trust Him, He gives us strength and peace, reminding us that He is Lord over every situation. Turn to Him with your worries, and rest in His care.
