The Bible speaks deeply to grief and loss, bringing light and hope in the midst of darkness. Grief is part of our human experience because sin has broken the world, and death is a reality we all face. Jesus, fully God and fully man, shows us His understanding of grief. In John 11:35, "Jesus wept" at the tomb of His friend Lazarus. This shows that our Savior is not distant from our pain but enters into it with compassion.
God promises to be near to the brokenhearted. Psalm 34:18 says, "The LORD is near to those who are brokenhearted," reminding us of His comfort. As we mourn, we are invited to bring our pain to God, who cares for us and carries our burdens (1 Peter 5:7).
Moreover, Jesus conquers grief by offering eternal hope. Because He rose from the dead, we have the promise of eternal life and will one day be free from all sorrow and tears (Revelation 21:4).
In your grief, run to Jesus as your refuge. Trust in His loving presence and His promise of life beyond loss. Let His grace sustain you, knowing that He is with you, comforting and strengthening you with His unending love.
